With the new year upon us, we need to make sure that we take time to reflect on the past year and how much we have learned and how far we have come. We need to celebrate all the accomplishments, achievements and wins that we have had over the past twelve months. We need to take that information and continue to become the best versions of ourselves in 2026 and beyond.
As we move into another year, we need to make sure that we are taking care of ourselves. We need to make sure that we are loving ourselves and are becoming the best possible versions of ourselves. We need to make sure that we are investing in ourselves. Whether that is working out, learning or just taking time to ourselves to reflect and refocus.
We need to nurture ourselves. We need to practice self-love. You cannot love others without loving yourself first. So, what does self-love look like? Simple, we need to forgive ourselves more. We need to stand up for ourselves. We need to do what makes us happy. We need to take care of our mind and body. We need to surround ourselves with positive people. We need to look in the mirror everyday and tells ourselves that we are enough.
We need to take time to reflect and realize “how lucky am I”. How lucky are you to whatever it is that you have always wished for. How lucky are you to be where you are today. How lucky are you to be in a position for even more growth, which will allow you to lead your life and not just live it.
We need to be “happy enough”. We need to take a moment and find contentment and satisfaction in our current situations. We need to recognize and accept that happiness is not permanent, so enjoy it when you have it. We need to be present in the moment and realize “how lucky am I”. Now, this doesn’t mean that we settle or don’t strive to be better versions of ourselves (different topic for a different day). It just means that we need to stop and smell the roses as the old saying goes. We need to appreciate in the now and focus on the meaning of happiness (we define the definition for ourselves).
We need to accept and understand all the hardships that we have overcome in the past year. We need to say that it was enough and that we are resilient. We need to be present for ourselves and realize the purpose, contributions and interesting experiences that have gotten us this far and made us who we are today, in this moment. Sometimes we just need to be “happy enough” now and worry about striving for better in another moment and future time.
To many times we forget to celebrate ourselves and live in the moment. The new year gives us this chance. The new year is not only a time to set goals for 2026, but a time to see how amazing and have gratitude for what 2025 gave us. We will never get that year back, so breathe and enjoy the reflection. It will be well worth it.
